Japan – Spring fever on the other site of the world

Japan – Spring fever on the other site of the world

After a whole week hard work, I’m ready now to fully enjoy my time in Japan.

The first what I notice in this country is the helpfulness and kindness of the people. The food, beer and sake is really tasteful. The interaction to each other as well with tourists is polite and respectful. The people are precise. For example, on the escalator everyone stands in line on the left side and on the right sight they walk, in subways people go out in the middle and get in on the left and right site.

From the Messe Chiba to my hotel in Shinjuku I had a good access with the subway. In Tokyo Station, I had a tasteful Chinese lunch. The hotel room is small but with this special bamboo floor and Kimonos insight. Short put the luggage in the room I went up to the Ueno Park. The station there is huge as well as this quarter. Insight Ueno Park are the cherry blossoms shining in the beautyful colours. But I’m not the only one with the idea to enjoy the cherry blossoms. A lot of Japanese people have a picnic below the blossoms on a blanket and are eating and drinking the whole day.

It is already evening when I came back to Shinjuku. I was hungry and was nearly to starve while I can’t decide between all this food. Regarding the skyscrapers, light, people and all these impressions I was a bit overstained. Back in the hotel I was waiting for Tracy which will arrive from Switzerland. Together we walked a bit around and had a view on a shrine with cherry blossoms.

On the next morning, we reserved our seats in the Shinkansen train from Tokyo to Kyoto. Thanks to our Japan Railpass the reservation was done fast and for free. After the breakfast, we waited on the Tokyo Station for the Shinkansen. We were really positive surprised about the huge free space for legs and that we nearly didn’t felt the speed of 320 km/h. In Kyoto we had to take a taxi to our Ryokan with Onsen in Ohara. Ohara is a bit outside of Kyoto. In our rooms, they explained us how the traditional Japanese Futon bed works. For dinner we had Shabu-Shabu, meet and vegetables which we had to cook in a miso based liquid. After the dinner, we walked around in the hill’s and in the forest. It was getting darker and the forest scarier so we went back to our accommodation and into the Onsen. Onsen is a hot bath from hot springs. Relaxed we fall asleep in our beds on the floor.

Early in the morning we had a bath again in the Onsen and walked a little bit around. We had a typical Japanese breakfast with scrambled eggs, miso soup, fish, beef and tofu.

With the bus, we drive to the centre of Kyoto in our Hostel. We walked through small and pretty quarters with traditional houses. After we get some tips from the hostel, we needed some time to found the right bus station and went to the Kinkakiji shrine. This golden shrine is beautyful as well with the mystical garden with its trees and the moss.  We walked to the Hiranojinja Shrine where a cherry blossom festival was taking place. On this festival, you can see shooting stands, food and drinking stands. In the afternoon, we walked through the traditional old city part Gion. The houses and the quarter is really impressive and gives this feeling of old Japan. We had a delicious dinner with a lot of beef on a barbeque. Fully eaten we walked through Gion to the Yasaka-jinja Shrine where we go again to a cherry blossom festival and had some good Sake to drink.
