Top 10 must see in…. London UK

I have been many times in the capital city of UK. London is a multifaceted and fascinating city and offers for everyone something. If you like culture, music, shopping or the nightlife.

I have my little bucket list what I have to do every time when I’ve been in the UK or Ireland:

  • Eat some fresh scones with marmalade
  • Eat some fish and chips with vinegar
  • Have a full englisch breakfast
  • Try new beers in the pubs
  • Enjoy the buildings and the live there

How to get here:

From nearly everywhere in the world you have a good flight next to the city. My favourite airports are Heathrow and the city airport. From there you can take the metro directly next to your accommodation.

If you stay anywhere in England, you can also take a train to the centre of London. We had a good connection from Worthing and where in the centre within one a half hour. If you like to go with your car, the Eurotunnel is easy and drives regularly. But I don’t recommend to go with the car into the centre of London.

How to travel around:

The best way to travel around is definitely with the metro “tube”. You can buy an oyster card or single rides.

Where to stay:

I’ve stayed in different hotels or by a friend’s place. You can find cheap or expensive hotels. Unfortunately, I never tried Air BnB in London but for general is this a really good option and you can get some good information and tip for your stay.

London has many things to see and do. But here you will find my top 10:

Camden Town:

If you like to go shopping or trying good street food, go to Camden Town and Camden Market. It has its own charm and you have to experience Camden.

Tower Bridge:

You can walk on the tower bridge or above the bridge. New if you walke above the bridge there is a glass floor in the middle where you can look right down to the street. The view is stunning as well with the Tower of London in the background.

Tower of London:

I love the whole story of the Tudors monarchy. Here you will find yourself in the past and staying on the place where Queen Elisabeth the first was captured and Anne Boleyn were beheaded.

Here you can also view the real royal crown jewels and the six ravens. The building is with the Tower Bridge in the background really stunning.

Musical / Theatre:

In London, you can see many theatres and musicals. You can easily book your tickets in advance or direct in London. My favourites are the Lion King, Wicked, the Phantom of the Opera and Harry Potter theatre. They all are really great!

Soho:

Just walk along Soho during day or night. Without any plan. That’s the best way to explore London and find cute and stunning places.

River South Walk:

Walk from the Tower of London to the Westminster Abbey is long but really worth it. You will pass the Millenniums Bridge, Borough food market, Southbank centre, the London Eye and a view Pub’s.

Walking around:

Also, a good walking route with a lot of sights and stunning views is as follow: You can go with the metro to the Buckingham Palace and go through the St. James Park until the Trafalgar Square. I really loved the St. James Park.

Covent Garden:

Covent Garden is a part of London where you can find theatres, restaurants and also a charming market.

London Eye:

London Eye is quite touristic but you can plan to go on a time where less people are there. The view from the highest Ferris wheel in Europe is stunning. Especially when you have a night view to the sea of lights from London.

Oxford and Carnaby Street:

Oxford Street is the famous shopping street in London. You can find everything what the heart desires. Also, next to Oxford Street is the small Carnaby Street. This is also a smaller, car-free shopping street with his own charm.
