Perth – The sunny town in Western Australia

Perth – The sunny town in Western Australia

The entry was quick and we were already in a coffee at 6 a.m. to fill up with caffeine. So, we had our heads enough together to get the car and drive to the centre of Perth. Breakfast was delicious and after further coffees we bought cinema tickets to pass the time until we could check-in to our Air BnB apartment.

We walked around Elizabeth Quay for a while and then cooked something small before we went absolutely tired to bed.

In the morning we went towards the city to the Perth Mint where they still process gold. The tour and exhibition were very interesting. A $ 1 million coin was also more or less lying around. They told us that the greatest security is the weight of the coin. We could also watch the gold pouring. We continued on Hay Street at around 42 degrees to Kings Park. This park is huge and we could only see a small part in this heat. The park also has a beautiful view over the city in Western Australia. Thirsty, before our grocery shopping and cooking we wanted to enjoy one beer. However, some people asked us to their table and so we spent the evening differently than originally planned.

After that evening, we had to get up early for the Swan Valley Winery Tour. There we could taste some wines and liquors. We also tasted the chocolate from the Chocolatier Margaret Valley which is really delicious. In the evening we shared a small plate in a brewery on Elizabeth Quay. The next day we had our lazy day. I was able to do some training in a pole studio. Later on, we went to the cinema.

Early in the morning we went to Fremantle to take the express ferry to Rottnest Island. On the way there we saw some dolphins. We had booked the express ferry with bicycles which were ready when we arrived on the island. At the beginning it was a little confusing where we had to go. But soon we found the way and saw the first quokkas. These cute little animals are mainly found on Rottnest Island. I wanted to take one home with me but yeah… During the day we drove the whole way along the sun and so my sunscreen soon was empty. We drove past gorgeous white beaches to a lighthouse. There we enjoyed the view and ate our sandwich. Shortly before the end of our tour around the island we cooled off in the sea and enjoyed an iced coffee before returning to Fremantle.

Today was our beach day. So, we drove to Scarborough Beach and had a little lunch. We were lying on the beach and heard the alarm. The lifeguards got everyone out of the water and put out a caution shark sign. So, no more bathing for us. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the beach and later drove south to Cottesloe Beach.

Fremantle is a place which belongs to Perth. So, we drove there and explored the town. There are also a lot of breweries here. We regretted that we came here by car and not with the train or ship. Nevertheless, we tested a beer at the Little Creatures brewery. In the evening we took part in a scary tour of Fremantle Prison. I highly recommend the tour to everyone.

Our last day here we drove to Caversham Wildlife Park where you could feed kangaroos and doing pictures with a wombat and koala. I walked around a bit in the bush and enjoyed the warmth and smell of the eucalyptus trees in the air. For dinner we went to an outback restaurant in the area called Northbridge where we tried the kangaroo, camel, crocodile, emu and wild boar meat.

Early in the morning we had to go to the airport where we will fly to Christchurch in New Zealand via Sydney. I really like Perth which grew close to my heart. Since I can’t really say goodbye, I decided to go to this beautiful and great city for a few weeks after my whole trip.
