Russia – Moscow

Russia – Moscow

Finally, the holidays start. At the airport I met Manuel and after check-in and security check we took an aperitif before the flight. The three-hour flight to Moscow went without any trouble. With the Visa was everything fine and we received the migration card. First rule here, keep all sheets and documents. Our driver waited for us and brought us to our hotel in the centre of Moscow. We were surprised with 26 decreases Celsius and sunshine.

After check-in in the hotel we went out to have dinner. I’m really fascinated from the city. It was quite different as I mentioned. We ate outside and tried our first Vodka. I still didn’t like it. I really enjoyed my first holiday with sunshine and delicious dinner in the nice capital of Russia. Just gorgeous. Unfortunately, they speak and understand not really english. Lucky me, I can order my wine in Russian and so I’m sure not to get thirsty during the time here. After dinner we walked trough the enlighten centre of Moscow. The Bolshoi Theatre as well as the bulbous spire of the Basilius Cathedral and the lights on the streets was really impressive. The red Square was closed but we tried our luck the next day.

The night in the comfortable bed passed and after breakfast we went to the Red Square and Kremlin. Unfortunately, the most streets where closed and we came to the Twerskaja Street which was full with Military vehicles. The Russian people wear military heads and some children walked around with play-weapons and wear uniforms. Impressed from the number of cannons, weapons and panzers, we watched the parade. Sadly, the Red Square was closed for the next day regarding the reunification of the mister president and the Victory Day two day’s after. We walked around and visited the huge Jesus Christ Church. A mass was in the church and after a view minutes we walked to the other side of the Moskva river. On the road we bought fresh filled bred. Further we walked outside the Kremlin to the Zaryadye park. There we ate for lunch in a kind of food corner the traditional soup Borsch and some meat dumplings called Pelmeni. We walked through the shopping centres Gum and Zum which was a bit over our budget. But the Gum centre is from the building really recommended to see it.

After a powernap we went in an Irish Pub for a beer. The Pub was amazing decorated. For lunch we went to the Pushkin Café which a colleague from work recommended me. We felt a bit underdressed but they welcomed us friendly and had a window table. I had Russian pancaked called Blini with Caviar and then some assortment of Russian traditional food. As dessert we had an Ice cream cake with pistachio, raspberry and chocolate. We also tried the Beluga Noble Vodka. I was a better one then the day before but still not my taste. For a nightcap we went back to the Irish Pub.

The last day in Moscow started. We went to a metro station which was kind of art. Further we bought some food and drinks for our journey with the Transiberian railway to Ekaterinburg. Outside with a delicious lunch we enjoyed the sun and watched the people walked around. I had a Russian cold soup with yogurt, cucumber, onions, salmon and dill and shared a cold platter together. In the afternoon we went to the train station and waited on the sun until we could get into our wagon. The bed linen was already in our cabin and enjoyed the dinner and watched the passing landscape.
