Canada – Arriving in the Indian Summer

We flew from Zurich to Toronto with the Dreamliner from Air Canada. This airplane has deserved his name. You can make the window darker with just some push on the button. The seats are wide and comfortable with a lot of legroom and a wide range of TV program.
After a stop in Toronto we finally arrived in our hotel Four Point in Downtown of Halifax. We ate a good dinner with fish and lobster in the seafood restaurant on the harbour named Shack.

On Sunday, we had a great breakfast with Pancakes and Maplesyrup for me in Cora’s. In general, here in Canada the people looks for a healthy lifestyle. Everywhere you can find sport shops, yoga classes and healthy food. The women’s here wear mostly leggings. First I thought that must be fresh but here you can found really warm leggings.

After the breakfast, we visited the Citadel of Halifax. This was in the past a military defence fortress for Halifax. It was really interesting and we visited difference museum which were located inside. On noon, a cannon shot where fired. After that we walked around in Halifax and where also a little bit shopping. In the evening, we walked along the harbour and saw the Queen Mary 2. We tested a few good and local beers in the Garrison Brewery and ate Teriyaki in the Restaurant Hamachi Steakhouse Bar & Grill Teriyaki. During the show, we saw in the background how the Queen Mary 2 take off. Andreas and me had also the chance to try it on the grill. While Tracy had a broken arm, she unfortunately couldn’t have a try. After the dinner, we found a good cinema in the centre and watched a movie there.

On the next day, we started a Winery Tour after our breakfast in Cora’s trough Nova Scotia. Sadly, we had heavy rain and wind on this day. Nevertheless, we had a fantastic tour. We tried really good from the light wine around Wolfsville as well as Ice-wine and Maple wine from small chocolate bowls. I loved that. With a lot of new wine, we came back to Halifax. In a Pub on the harbour we hat a delicious Thanksgiving meal. Halifax is a special and relaxed city. However, in the city them self it has not a lot to do and see.

On Tuesday, we picked up our motorhome where we can live the next two weeks. After a big shopping tour with good food we drive around 2 hours to the Kejimkujik National park. There we had a beautyful camping site at Jeremy Bay directly on the lake with electrical access for 40 Canadian Dollars. On the evening, we walked along the lake and enjoyed the Sun and the colours which offer the forest during the Indian Summer.

The first night in our motorhome was really cold even though we had a heater. But we enjoyed a good meat from the fireplace with beer and wine and grilled marshmallows with apple wine. At night, the forest was scary especially when you know that you can meet here bears, wolfs and other animals.

After breakfast, we start to go to Prince Edward Island. At the beginning, it was difficult to drive with the motorhome but from time to time I’ve get it. The drive needed some hours and we passed the Confederation Bridge. This 12.88 km long bridge link the island with the land of Canada. On PEI we searched a long time for camping sites. During the off-season, a lot of sites are already closed. On the evening, we find out, that the window next to my bed never was closed. We changed it and the following nights where much warmer.
