Tips and tricks for holiday in Switzerland

It’s a good life here in Switzerland. Here you find all. From beautyful nature up to attractive and cultural citys. I will give you with this articel some trips to travel in my homecountry. If you have any questions or inputs your welcome to contact me.

How to travel around:

I recommand to travel with the train. In Switzerland you have connection with the public transport all over and you don’t hav to be in traffic jam and you can enjoy the nature and the beautyful trainways. For Swiss habits it’s recommanded to take a 1-day travelpass or a GA travelcard. For all outside Switzerland I recommand the Interrail or the Swiss Travel Pass. They are available for train, bus and ship as well as some mountain railway. But for the most mountain way you have to pay a seperate ticket. This tickets are most expensive and I will suggest to walk one way. Don’t forgett good shoes.

How to spend the night:

In the summer time you can go with a camper or tent to a campground. We have a lot here in Switzerland and the most are direct on a lake and have a clean site.

Here you can also take hostels all over Switzerland.

Hotels are nice but also expensive.

In general I recommand to book your stait with Air B&B .

Food and Drinks:

Here you will find restaurants in all price ranches. But in relaition with other countries restaurant are pretty expensive. You will find in Switzerland food from typical Swiss meals like Rösti, Raclette, Fondue ect. As well as Italian, Spanish, Mongolish, Thai and Japanese food.

All over Switzerland you find as well take-aways. Most next to or inside railway stations.

I reccomend to buy something in a shop like Coop. Migros, Denner ect. The offer a lot of food and snacks if warm or cold to take-away.

You can also buy a beer or drink in one of those shops. To drink in the public is permitted here in Switzerland.

So on a nice day you can buy some food and drinks an enjoy your day on a lake or river. A lot of Swiss people like to do this as well. In the most forests and on mountains you will find public sites for BBQ which you have to do your own fire.

Language:

In the biggest part of Switzerland, we speak Swiss German. But everyone understands German. In the west of Switzerland is the French speaking and in Ticino the Italian speaking part.

On most touristic places the speak englisch. Most of the older people speak and understand english not so good. But the most of the younger people speak and understand English.

Gifts:

You can buy a lot of gifts in the normal shops like Coop. Migros, Manor ect. The swiss army knife is found on a lot of shops. For a good watch I recomand to go to a shop for watches or jewelry.

If you like to buy some good Swiss chocolate, you can buy them in the normal shops like Migros, Coop, Denner, Lidl or Aldi. They have the famous chocolate brands for a good price.
