New York – a weekend in an great city

The eight-hour flight runs very fast and we passed during 10 minutes the passport control. We arrived our hotel Hilton on Times Square after a one-hour drive in a yellow cap. After showering we walked through the Times Square where I was again impressed. We visited the Saint Patricks church and walked along the 8th Avenue to the huge shopping mall Macys. It was late and we were hungry and so we decided to walk to a recommended restaurant from a friend named “The Spotted Pig”. The Spotted Pig is a pretty nice restaurant with a funny ambience. We were sitting next to an actor. The meal was delicious but my friend Tracy has to find out, that she didn’t like mould cheese in her burger.

We slept late and indulged us a big breakfast including my Pancakes. After the visiting of the Empire State Building which is 440 meters high we walked to the High Line Park in Chelsea. High Line Park is a not used freight train road which is above from the reads from Manhattan and rebuilt into a park between 2006 – 2014. We enjoyed the walk in this parks with nice flowers from to States until the Chelsea Marked. The market is a lovely but small rebuilder factory building. We walked to the Financial District from Manhattan where we visited the 9/11 memorial. This both “pools” are placed where the World Trade Centre was and reminds now to the 3000 people who left their life’s on the terrorist attack from the September 9, 2001. With the subway we went back to the hotel where we dressed up for the Broadway theatre “The Crucible”.

We ate dinner in restaurant “Bubba Gump” which is famous from the movie Forest Gump. The Crucible is a really good theatre where also some famous movie actors play their role. Later on we had a drink and listen good music in the Hard Rock Cafe.

On Saturday we found a good place for having our breakfast in the restaurant “Rue 57”. I felt in love with my blueberry pancakes which was the reason that we decided to go on the next day again in this restaurant. We went down with the subway to the Battery Park where we liked to enjoy the warm beautiful weather on the water. After a long waiting time in the heat we boarded into the boat for a cruise in the East and Hudson River. At all the cruise worth it. To see the skyline from New York, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty and a part of New Jersey from the river side was awesome. Next to the Brooklyn Bridge on the Brooklyn site we went out of the boat to walk over the Bridge. It was a pretty boardwalk with a stunning view to New York City. Before we went back to the hotel we visited the Grand Central Station with his impressive hall.

After dressing up in the hotel, we ate in the restaurant “Chez Josephine” which was a tip from the concierge from out hotel. The ambience from this French restaurant was beautiful, the food delicious and with the live piano and saxophone music a perfect dinner. I had a French onion soup, medallion and a chocolate mousse. For going out we went down to East Village where we found a nice Irish Pub/Club and celebrated into my birthday.

We slept long on Sunday before we had to pack our stuff and checked out. As decided yesterday, we ate again in the Rue 57 and I had delicious eggs Benedict. The restaurant was next to the Central Park where we had a walk in this beautiful park. In the lake inside the 3.41 km2 park we rented a rowboat in the boat house.

After a short shopping stop we had no longer time. So we find a good Pizzeria to ate a real New Yorker Pizza. The Pizza in the “Family and Friends” was huge but delicious.

Sadly, we had to back home and for the way we had to buy some donuts. New York has a lot more to show. I was already in this stunning city 6 years ago. The city is unique, beautiful and awesome at same time. The people are open, helpful and sympathetic. It wasn’t for sure the last time that I will visit this city.
